Advance Workshop | Tulsa, Oklahoma | www.AmyLorrainePhotography.com

This post has been long overdue. Exactly a month ago I had the opportunity to travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to learn from two of my favorite photographers, Trisha and Madison. I’ve been able to get to know them online a bit over the past months and finally got to meet them in person! It is always fun to get together and talk to like minded photographers who understand where you’re at and know how to help you get better. This workshop was just that mixed with a lot of learning, shooting and a whole lot of fun.

On Friday I flew out to Tulsa for a workshop to ADVANCE my business. Madison of Madison Vining Photography and Trisha of TG Photography hosted the Advance Workshop. They shared all their tips and tricks from what “Must –Have” equipment, to posing, editing and marketing your business to be the best business it can be. Trisha picked me up from the airport and took me to Chick-fil-a before dropping me off at my hotel. I love her.

Trisha has the most adorable studio that gave me SERIOUS studio & prop envy. She specializes in newborn photography and is fantastic at what she does. Her images are so timeless and gorgeous! Madison is an on location photographer who loves senior girls and boudoir! Her signature sun-drenched images seriously are to die for. I wish she was photographing seniors when I was a senior in high school. These two entrepreneurs are amazing photographers and they know how to run a business and balance their family.

The first demonstration was newborns! We were lucky enough to have two perfect sleepy babies, one boy and one girl. Cohen was first and Preslee was next. We learned set ups and posing and of course newborn safety is the utmost importance.Advance Workshop | Newborns | www.AmyLorrainePhotography.com

In between the shoots we went through marketing our business and getting the most out of social media along with exactly how they edit their images.  I’ve been having fun playing around the Photoshop actions and textures and all the goodies we received in our swag. The actions have cut down my editing time by hours. I’m obsessed!

The family session was a bit overwhelming for Asher at first but he of course warmed up to us and Raegan was workin’ it for everyone’s camera. She told us about her snake and chameleon and then caught a frog at one location!

Sydney. What do I even need to say about this stunning girl. I mean come on! Who looks like that in high school? Its not fair. But she was so amazing at modeling for all of us and kept up with all of the directions and all of the cameras. I had such an amazing time photographing her!

Is it wrong that my favorite part was winning prizes and getting swag? No.. didn’t think so. I won a Studio Baby posing puck and a newborn fabric backdrop! Then the bag of swag included a bunch of goodies and a USB full of actions, how to videos, templates and more. Plus this super cute bracelet that I want to wear all the time and never take off.

He is so adorable, but behind the scenes he was not a happy camper when we first got started. I picked up my camera and this was the first shot I took. He looked right at me and smiled… He was just waiting for me.

Oh the newborn faces, smiles and yawns.

Topic Tuesday: Nurseries | Amy Lorraine Photography

I don’t have any children yet but that hasn’t stopped me from planning my my non-existent children’s nursery. Here are a few of my favorites!

First one I have to start off with is the Toy Story inspired! If you don’t know… I LOVE TOY STORY. It is my favorite movie and anything Toy Story related makes my heart smile.

The last one for this post is a gender neutral gray & white nursery. For those who don’t want to know the sex of the baby before he or she is born, gray is a great color choice. This is with an accent of a pale blue but it can be easily changed to yellow!

Baby Bean Bag Chairs

I mean babies really have it the best? They get to sleep whenever they want, fed, and cuddled? But if thats not enough.. We can always get them this Baby Bean Bag Chair for lounging and napping! 🙂

Baby Beanbag

The Australian Company, Three Silly Kitties, is selling these baby bean bag chairs.  The come in a standard or deluxe version and are priced between $45 and $60!

Reasons to purchase a Baby Bean Bag for your little one:

Relieves Reflux – Babies can sit upright depending on how the beans are positioned inside.

Prevents Flat Head – Support without lying down flat.

Years of Use – Interchange upper layers to allow the Baby Bean Bag to follow your child as they grow.  The only product that can be safely used for many years!

Cosy – Moulds into a comfortable position depending on the use.  Consider using it upright for feeding or flatter for relaxing in front of the TV.

Safe – Two ‘safety zips’ to ensure beans remain encased in the bag.  They can only be opened with a paper clip, safe from little fingers.

ACCC Approved – All TSK Baby Bean Bags meet mandatory Australian safety standards.

Portable – Extremely lightweight for easy transport.  Take it everywhere you go!

Durable – Can be used inside or outside.

Easy to Clean – Remove top layers for gentle machine washing and the base unit can easily be wiped down with a wet cloth.

Flexible – Extra upper layers available for a change of colour.

The Owlet Baby Monitor!

Have you heard about the new device created by a Brighman Young University student? Jacob Colvin and his team helped create a baby monitor that straps to the child’s food and monitors heart rate and blood oxygen levels. If heart rate significantly changes or the baby stops breathing the smart phone is alerted.

How amazing! Check out the website here!

Throwback Thursday

This post is dedicated to all you instagram lovers. Thursday on Instagram is known as “Throwback Thursday” where you post  old photos of you and your loved ones. This is the first newborn I ever photographed.

2013-01-10_0002

Adrianna is my best friend daughter and this was the first day I ever got to meet her. She is part of the reason I’m in the business that I’m in. It has been amazing watching her grow up and crazy to think she’s not that tiny baby anymore. She is my favorite little nugget and quite hilarious now with her own little personality.

2013-01-10_0003.jpgI clearly had no idea what I was doing or wanted to do over 3 years ago when it came to my niche in photography. I took these for fun when we got to spend together but I am so happy to see how much my work has progressed from the first time I started.
